Hellmann announces logistics partnership with Vestas for North American distribution center
As part of the cooperation, Hellmann is managing Vestas´ landmark spare part distribution center for North America. Operating out of a brand-new 130,000 sq ft warehouse in Houston, Hellmann manages the time-critical supply of spare parts and components for Vestas’ existing and new wind farms across the U.S. and Canada. The assignment is characterized by a high degree of complexity as the inventory parts range from small scale parts such as electronic components, hazardous material including batteries and lubricants to large turbine components. The array of services provided by Hellmann includes inventory management, kitting, load consolidation as well as pick, pack and ship operations for outgoing orders.
Since Hellmann established its renewable logistics division over a decade ago, the freight forwarder has morphed into a leading provider of end-to-end logistics for several players in the sustainable energy sector such as Vestas and the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels, Jinko Solar. In addition to contract logistics services, a network of regional control towers situated in major markets (Shanghai, Rotterdam and Miami) provides for a one-stop shop for utility-scale projects around the globe.
“Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has joined Vestas America Wind Technology as a key player in our distribution logistics, supporting the service supply chain,” said Scott Benedetti, Head of Supply Chain Operations of Vestas North America. “Since their launch in 2021, they have proven to be a strong partner who shares Vestas' key goals of safety, collaboration, cost, and performance. We are enthusiastic about the future of this relationship in further developing Vestas as the foremost leader in wind turbine service support in North America.”
“Hellmann is a key player in renewable logistics – in North America and globally and we are proud to add Vestas to our portfolio. Our dedication to KPI-driven performance management and lean management ensures that we deliver exceptional service quality by adding value on a daily basis,” says Peter Huewel, Regional CEO North America, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
“Thanks to our very successful track record, we are pleased to strengthen our market position in renewable energy logistics in North America by partnering with Vestas. As a company with a strong focus on sustainability, our goal is to expand this business segment on a global scale in the coming years,” says Volker Sauerborn, Chief Operating Officer Contract Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
